On August 18 Valery Khvatov, Founder of DGT Network, held a technical Zoom webinar on “Crash Fault Tolerance and Byzantine Fault Tolerance in decentralized protocols with voting.”

Valery explained his webinar as follows: 

“Throughout the past two years, blockchain solutions have been gradually evolving from being the basis for cryptocurrencies to becoming effective platforms for cross-enterprise integration. However, this development has been slower than expected. 

The largest obstacle to progress has been the existing consensus models birthed out of supporting cryptocurrency valuations, which lack the scalability and integration required by business environments. Voting-based consensus models are a notable exception and the foundation for growing enterprise use. 

In this webinar, we’ll be introducing the two main streams within that group: the Crash Fault Tolerance (CFT) and the Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT). We will compare their effectiveness, as well as drawbacks for various applications.“
